Red Release Celebration - February 11-12, 11:00 a.m. - 4:00 p.m.
Sylvia Saenz
My main medium is watercolor when I paint. Usually my work is realistic, although I may have a couple more abstract paintings in this time. When I'm doing papier maché, the animals seem to take on their own personalities and almost shape themselves as I work on them. I'm a member of Tubac Center for the Arts and PaperWorks, a Tucson artists' organization.
The Herb Garden
For years Joel Blumenthal has grown herbs and vegetables in her Sonoita garden. She uses the produce of her garden to create herbal crafts, soaps, jellies and honeys, spice rubs and herbal teas. Joel will also bring handmade wine bottle covers and tortilla warmer covers, and delicious baked goods to eat along with the new red wines.
Margaret Aden
Each piece is hand wrought for you by designer, Margaret Aden in her Vail studio. As a graduate of the United States Naval Academy and former Naval Officer, Margaret traveled extensively and draws upon many cultural influences when creating her funky, modern designs. Currently, she is exploring textures achieved by weaving and traditional silversmith techniques, along with the creation of unique patinas. Her passion for rocks, fossils and found objects permeates her work.
Margaret's Process:
My work starts as coils of wire (12g-30g, Silver and 14ktGF) and natural focals that I gather while I travel. I do my fabrication work, sawing, hammering and soldering to create settings and fix the bones of the weaving. When weaving, I use a continuous piece of wire and all of my work is free form. The clasp and other pieces are manipulated from more wire; I make each component myself. I create primitive/modern jewelry focused on structure & patina.
